Experts in the organizing industry agree there are no “by the book” solutions for getting and staying organized. Different personality types, work styles, and environmental influences must be considered to create a system that works best.
How long does it take to get organized?
Organization is a process, not a state achieved in one day. Each project is unique and the length will depend on several variables: size and condition of the space, your schedule, and your motivation Depending on the situation, organizing can take a few hours, a few days or be an ongoing process over an extended period of time.
What should I expect in an organizing session?
When working with a Professional Organizer you should expect no judgment. We have a reputation for being quite merciful.
There is an initial consultation where we will assess what you want to accomplish, discuss your concerns, and answer any questions you may have. I will also take some pictures, and come up with a plan of action for your specific needs which works with both your budget and schedule.
I will physically help you with your de-cluttering and organization, whether it is working side by side with you or independently, I will help make the experience of getting organized more enjoyable. My role is not only to help you organize what you already have, but to develop some organizational systems that you can use and stay organized for many years to come. My approach is based on sensitivity to your needs, discretion to maintain your privacy and respect for your possessions. Your outcome will be an organized and clutter free space. You’ll receive guidance and motivation until your project is complete.
How involved am I in the decision process about my things? Will you make me throw things away?
You will never be told you must throw your things away. It’s likely that I’ll encourage you to reconsider a “keep” decision, and maybe go back to that decision more than once, but your things are YOURS and the final decision is also always yours.
